Mafa Local Government is a Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria that was created out of the former Konduga Local Government in 1991 during the defunct military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. The name Mafa was named after its lake Yamafa in the outskirt of Mafa town. Its headquarters are in the town of Mafa.
It has an area of 2,869 km² and a population of 103,518 at the 2006 census. The LGA shares border with Dikwa LGA to the East, MMC to the West, Konduga LGA to the South while Magumeri to the North
It is one of the sixteen LGAs that constitute the Borno Emirate, a traditional state located in Borno State, Nigeria
